INTERSECTIONS™ is a structured, educational intervention designed to meet court-mandated requirements for individuals who do not require residential addiction treatment but are seeking meaningful engagement and education as part of their legal arrangements. This program is offered through O’Grady Psychotherapy Associates and is suitable for clients referred by Westchester legal professionals.
Eligibility:
- Participants must be referred by a legal professional and have been determined not to require addiction treatment.
- Acceptance into the program is subject to the initial referral and brief intake discussion.
Program Overview INTERSECTIONS™
INTERSECTIONS™ is a modular modular peer delivered program developed by the National Organization of Adult Addictions and Recovery (NOAAR) and Mental Health America of Dutchess County. INTERSECTIONS promotes the reduction of reoccurrence, improved maintenance of recovery plans, and success within family systems and the community. Modules include: • Orientation • Meditation • Movement • Nutrition • Mindfulness • Personal Visions and Goals • Spirituality
Program Structure

Session Format
Each session consists of a brief check-in with a qualified provider, focusing on personal progress and engagement.
Homework Component:
Following each session, participants are assigned a curated video resource selected from our educational library. The chosen video https://noaar.orginfo@noaar.org will be relevant to the participant’s circumstances and intended to encourage personal reflection and growth.

Orientation
An introduction to the INTERSECTIONS model Holistic Triage and the idea that everyone is in recovery from something rather than being broken. -
Meditation
Shows how mindful meditation can reduce relapse risk increase focus ease anxiety and depression and deepen spiritual connection including practical exercises and a personal journey to meditation. -
Movement
Explores movement as a powerful tool for sobriety using the idea move a muscle change a thought and explaining how regular exercise supports mood physical health and long term recovery.

Nutrition
Explains how substance use harms metabolism and organ function and how real food and anti inflammatory choices can support healing mood and energy during recovery. -
Mindfulness
Defines mindfulness as the ability to be fully present and describes how mindfulness helps with addictive patterns by slowing mental chatter and shifting how people relate to thoughts and triggers. -
Spirituality
Looks at spirituality creativity and meditation in recovery drawing on sources such as The Twelve Steps and The Artist’s Way and invites people to explore creative expression as part of their spiritual growth. -
Vision and Goals
Guides participants through values clarification and practical goal setting including tools such as personal SWOT analysis SMART goals and alternative step by step planning.
Who is INTERSECTIONS™ - A Program Without Boundaries
INTERSECTIONS is designed for adults in recovery from addiction and co occurring mental health challenges and for the organisations that support them.
Because each module stands alone and uses rolling admission it is suitable for people at different stages of recovery including those entering services for the first time and those returning after relapse.
Practice Principles
The program brings together several evidence informed approaches including person centred care trauma informed practice harm reduction attention to co occurring disorders and peer to peer support.
Facilitators use motivational interviewing and active reflective listening and share their own lived experience to help participants focus on recovery from today forward.
